Sometimes I need a break from the busy. Yep, that’s my truth bomb.
If you have watched anything from my Youtube channel, I sign off every single one with a reminder to take a break from the busy. And if you think that I say that because I have it all together and have perfectly balanced work, parenting, self-care and everything else, you couldn’t be more wrong.
I have always thrived on being busy. In high school, I was a joiner. I went to school, danced 20+ hours a week, joined Mock Trial, Model UN, Theater Guild, Student Ambassadors, and still somehow managed to get my homework done. I continued this through college and my first corporate job. I finally got burnt out and STILL found it difficult to just sit and watch TV without editing photos, writing an email, or doing a project.
I tell you this because, in our society, being busy is a badge of honor.
When someone asks how you are doing, how many times do you respond with a “Busy!” then rattle off everything you have going on. You’ll hit a breaking point, you’ll get sick, cranky, or lose your motivation.
Fortunately, I have gotten to a point where I can tell where I am overloading and I know exactly how to recalibrate.
I plan a spa day or I book a vacation! But for so many Mom’s traveling with your family is not a vacation.
That is why I started Showcase the World Travel.
In fact, you will be able to better serve your children, spouse, colleagues, and family when you set boundaries and fill your cup first. It’s your vacation too! And just like every other mom I know, you deserve a break.
I am so passionate about helping overwhelmed moms like you with all of the details, so you don’t have to stress about everything that goes into planning. It’s important to me to make sure you aren’t spending your entire vacation figuring out what happens next. You should feel reconnected, refreshed, and rejuvenated after your trip.
But in order to enjoy that, you have to take the first step.
So many families tell me they want to wait until their kids are “old enough” to remember the trip. But honestly, waiting makes it worse. Waiting until your children hit a certain age, just means they’ve become busy on their own with activities, school, and the various hobbies they’ll come to rely on.
I know from experience, I used to travel all of the time with my parents. I am the oldest of 4 children and by the time my youngest brother was born, I had dance recitals and musicals I couldn’t miss, my other brothers had baseball, basketball, and soccer tournaments, camps and championships, and we didn’t go anywhere. I was on my first flight at 6 months old, but my youngest brother didn’t travel anywhere until he was in high school. He was almost 20 the first time he went to Walt Disney World.
So today, I want you to stop making excuses. I want you to start making travel a priority and stop embracing the busy, whether that means booking a vacation or leaving dirty dishes in the sink when you go to bed early, own it and it will help you keep on moving.
Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! I have 10 amazing ways to Take a Break from the Busy for you and your family in a fun download. Just click the button below to have it delivered directly to your inbox!
