Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! If you’re wondering why the beloved Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs is so popular and whether it’s worth the dining experience, let me share my review to give you some insight. But make sure to book a reservation ahead of time, or the luck of the Irish might not be on your side.
Disney always brings the magic in their ability to transform a location into a familiar, but far away place. And that’s no exception with Raglan Road. From the architecture, to the music, to the food, to the dancing, it really feels like you’ve traveled overseas and stepped into a pub in Ireland. The dark wood interior, with subtle green embellishments reads as authentic and never tacky. Plus the high ceilings and beautiful brass light fixtures make this restaurant feel roomy even amidst all the excitement happening.
If you enjoy dinner and a show, then you’ll love the intermittent Irish tap dancing and Irish folk music presented on the stage, at the center of the restaurant, for all to enjoy. It is truly an experience worth having while enjoying the delicious comfort food. This is perhaps the most notable restaurant in Disney Springs for entertainment alone.
Start your meal with a round of drinks. If you want the Irish experience, perhaps a pint of Guinness Irish Beer or a glass of whiskey to feel like Sean Connery. But if you want something on the sweeter side and you’re a coffee enthusiast like me, then try the Iced Irish, which the menu describes as “Ireland’s answer to Starbucks”.
We only found it appropriate to stick to the most authentic Irish dishes, so we ordered the Boxty Potato Cake appetizer which was crispy and came with pulled ham, caramelized onions, and a Dubliner cheese sauce. This appetizer is definitely flavorful and prepares you for the cuisine to come.
A safe option for children, but really enjoyed by all, is the popular fish and chips option. Crispy and familiar, Raglan’s Road takes the common dish and elevates it. My little one didn’t have any complaints anyways!
My husband ordered the Braised Be Beef, a 12 hour slow cooked short rib soaked in wine sauce, that comes with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The meat was tender and excellently flavored.
I went with Shepherd’s Pie, a braised beef and lamb pulled and mixed with vegetables sitting on red wine sauce and topped with mashed potatoes. I’m glad I went with this dish, this could even be a great dish if you have a young child since it doesn’t require a lot of chewing. The flavors and the texture are entirely satisfactory.
There are lighter options if you’re not a big red meat fan, fish, chicken, and salad, and even vegan options are available!
