When to Book Your Cruise
So you’ve decided you want to take a cruise ship vacation, but you’re not quite sure when would be the best time to book your cruise? Well there’s many factors to consider, but there will be an ideal time to go for you that meets your needs. Read ahead to find out when you should book your cruise.
Earlier rather than later?
Waiting for that perfect deal may be worth it to you, but it’s generally true that the earlier you book your cruise, the better off you are. Usually the closer the cruise is to sailing, the more expensive it will be depending on how much availability is left. This is especially true for popular cruise lines that tend to get booked up fast.
It’s also important to note that if you are going to book your cruise closer to the departure date that you need to make sure you have considered all the other factors that go into booking a cruise and how necessary ample time will be beneficial to keeping your sanity. Depending on the cruise line, you may need to provide a Covid-19 negative test and/or vaccine documentation. You might also need to book a hotel and airfare depending on your cruise.
What time of the year should I book my cruise?
If you are set on looking for promotions and deals, then you may want to look out for holiday specials like Memorial Day or Black Friday/Cyber Monday. But be wary that when you see a 25% off deal that it may actually be 25% off of an up-marked price from the week before, making it nearly, if not the same price as it would already be.
How soon should I book my cruise?
You are better off booking your cruise at least 9-12 months in advance. Cruise lines prefer that you book sooner so they have a better idea of how many guests they have so they don’t have to worry about filling the ship. Some cruise lines even let you book as far in advance as 2 years or more.
What else should I know?
Trips during Christmas and New Year’s are likely to book up fast, so make sure you have enough time to reserve a spot if you’re wanting to take a holiday cruise. You want to make sure you have enough time for the accommodations on which type of room you’d like to stay in as well.
