Day 1: Welcome to the Magical World of London
Your magical journey begins in the heart of London. You’re going to have a busy day, so be sure to enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel before you meet your guide for a walking tour of Harry Potter locations in London.

The tour begins at Australia House, the inspiration for Gringotts Wizarding Bank, where you can easily imagine goblins scurrying inside, guarding treasures and secrets. Your next stop is Great Scotland Yard, the entrance to the Ministry of Magic in the films. The sight of this unassuming doorway makes you realize how seamlessly the magical world of Harry Potter blends into our own.
As you walk through the city, your guide will share fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the films. You’ll pass by other significant spots, including the Westminster Tube Station, which was used in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” The tour ends at King’s Cross Station, where you can take a photo at the iconic Platform 9¾. Don’t forget to visit the Harry Potter shop nearby to stock up on souvenirs!
In the afternoon, head over to Cutter & Squidge for a Potions Afternoon Tea. Set in a whimsical potions class with cauldrons and spellbooks, you’ll sip on bubbling teas and mocktails while enjoying wizard-themed treats like “cauldron cakes” and “potion pot pies.” It’s an experience that’s sure to leave you spellbound. 😉
After your magical tea, take a stroll across the Millennium Bridge. You may remember this bridge from “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” where it was dramatically destroyed by Death Eaters.
You’ll have had a long day of walking, so enjoy a delicious dinner, put up your feet, and get ready for tomorrows adventures!
Day 2: Magical Markets and Historic London
Start your day with a visit to Leadenhall Market, a stunning Victorian market that served as the entrance to Diagon Alley in the first Harry Potter film. The beautiful architecture and vibrant atmosphere will transport you straight into Harry’s world. Browse the quaint shops and perhaps pick up a magical trinket or two along the way.
Next, make your way to the Tower of London. Although not directly related to Harry Potter, this historic fortress should not be missed during your time in London. Explore the ancient towers, marvel at the Crown Jewels, and learn about the fascinating history of this iconic landmark. The Tower’s storied past, filled with tales of intrigue and mystery, entertains both kids and adults
For lunch, head to Borough Market, one of London’s most renowned food markets which served as the location for the Leaky Cauldron in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” This bustling market is filled with incredible food options, from gourmet cheeses and cured meats to fresh produce and artisanal baked goods. I recommend doing a thorough walk around before deciding what to eat as the options are truly endless!
In the evening, if you’ve managed to secure tickets, treat yourself to a performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This two-part play continues the story of Harry Potter and his family. The incredible stage effects and captivating storyline is a great option for kids. If the play isn’t an option, consider visiting a themed pub like The Cauldron for dinner, where you can enjoy magical cocktails and a wizard-inspired menu.
Day 3: Day Trip to Oxford – A Glimpse of Hogwarts
Set an early alarm and catch a train to Oxford, a city brimming with academic history and Harry Potter filming locations. When you arrive, you’ll immediately feel the academic air and historic charm of this iconic university town.
Start your exploration at Christ Church College. Walk through the Great Hall, which served as the inspiration for Hogwarts’ own dining hall. The grandeur of the hall, with its high ceilings and long wooden tables, will make you feel as if you’re about to sit down for a feast with the Hogwarts students. While there, don’t miss the stunning staircase where Professor McGonagall greeted the first-year students in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
Next, visit the Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe and used as the Hogwarts library in the films. Upon arrival in Edinburgh, take some time to explore the city. Begin with a visit to Victoria Street, said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley. In the evening, have dinner at The Elephant House, the café where J.K. Rowling wrote much of the Harry Potter series. The cozy atmosphere and delicious food make it a perfect spot to end your first day in Edinburgh.
Day 6: Day Trip to Alnwick Castle – Filming Location for Hogwarts
Set out early for a day trip to Alnwick Castle, about 1.5 hours from Edinburgh. This majestic castle served as a filming location for Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter films.

In the afternoon, take a Harry Potter walking tour of Edinburgh. Your guide will take you to locations connected to the series and J.K. Rowling’s writing. Visit the Greyfriars Kirkyard, where you can see the graves that inspired some of the characters’ names, including Tom Riddle.
