Adventures By Disney: The Disney Difference

 

Recently I shared that my favorite hassle-free way to travel with kids is through guided tours. Not only is your itinerary taken care of, there is no need to worry about logistics and the people there are able to keep your kids entertained. Why I love Family Guided Tours 

There are plenty of options when it comes to guided tours and a few companies even have family specific itineraries. However, Adventures By Disney always comes out as the best- winning endless awards and accolades. The price tag that comes with an Adventures By Disney Vacation definitely reflects that. You may be wondering, “Why is ABD so much more expensive” and “Is it worth it?”

Let’s be honest, Disney leads the industry in family travel. They created the theme park industry, and opened ocean cruising, river cruising, AND guided tours to families. Prior to Adventures by Disney arriving on the scene in 2005, guided tours were reserved for the retired set who would be shuffled from site to site. It wasn’t until ABD started focusing on family experiences that the other companies took notice.

Disney is the only guided tour company who focuses ONLY on family tours. Customer Service 

We may be a little removed from when Disney was synonymous with service, but with Adventures by Disney that magic is still alive. Everything is taken care of for you. Not only do the guides speak the language and handle all the logistics, they live to anticipate your needs. They address them before you even know what is needed. On a particularly cold day in London, they will meet you after a walking tour with hot chocolate or have umbrellas ready if a sudden shower pops up in Peru. 

Here are just a few of the logistics that will be taken care of for you. 

Airport meet and greet upon arrival

• Transfer to/from hotels

• Transportation within your trip (including flights, trains, etc.)

• Snacks and refreshments en route

• Luggage service

• Concierge service to help plan free time

Inclusive 

Another reason why ABD may seem more expensive is because it includes A LOT more than its competitors. On other tours you may have more time on your own, but that also means you are shelling out for entrance fees, extra tours, excursions, and meals. The resorts Disney chooses are truly luxurious and are in the city centers. From the moment you arrive in the city to the second you leave, almost everything is included, such as:

• 4 or 5 star Outstanding accommodations in the center of the action

• Transportation

With other tours, I have found that the rooms are either 3 or 4 stars (Which is totally fine). However, these rooms are on the outskirts of the city and a lot of your time can be eaten up by getting where you need to be (Which I am NOT okay with)!

The Disney name holds some clout. Adventures by Disney offers experiences that only Disney could provide: private, after-hour visits to the Sistine Chapel, participating in an alms offering ceremony with monks in Laos, and learning the art of Peruvian weaving from master artisans and more are all Disney Exclusives. 

Virtually every part of the Adventures by Disney experience is ‘private’ in some form or another. You will not wait in lines for anything. Disney makes arrangements to provide access to venues either exclusively or ahead of the general public. 

Cultural Experiences 

What I love about Adventures by Disney is that their goal is not about getting you from place to place just so you can check it off of your list. They aim to IMMERSE their guests in different cultures by doing things you’d never do anywhere else. Take Italy for example, you can make a mask with a Venetian mask maker or go to the countryside to have a chef teach you how to make pasta from scratch. They are able to make your experience a beautiful story that only Disney can do. 

Unique Itineraries with Movie Tie Ins 

In addition to ALL of those ways that Disney is different, they own a Billion properties and are able to incorporate their movies in unique ways. 

Scotland incorporates themed activities relating to the animated film Brave. The 9-day, 8-night vacation takes guests to the Isle of Lewis whose people and ancient sites inspired the film. Travelers step between the mysterious Callanish Standing Stones and learn the art of archery. In the National Museum of Scotland, visitors can find the 200-year-old Chessmen of Lewis set, which is depicted in a chess scene between Merida and her mother in Brave.

Norway brings guests to the real-life inspiration of the kingdom of Arendelle from Disney’s Frozen. The 8-day, 7-night itinerary takes guests into the storybook Village of Bergen, through ice-capped mountains, between majestic fjords, and to see the stave churches that shaped the landscape and architecture, which is depicted in the hit film.

The 8-day, 7-night “Beauty and the Beast” themed Rhine cruise itinerary, which visits France, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands allows families to hike in the Black Forest, explore storybook Heidelberg Castle, tour the picturesque town of Riquewihr, and enjoy culinary experiences based on the film.
