It has been over 7 months since my last trip to Walt Disney World. I had to cancel my planned April and July trips. I don’t find myself missing the characters, attractions or even the fireworks, but I long for the SNACKS!!
The past few times I have gone, I have found myself planning my trip around new restaurants or new snack items. Because I am missing some of my favorite snacks I decided to write this post about the 10 Best Snacks at Walt Disney World.
Dole Whip
I didn’t want to load down this list with all of the classics. Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Popcorn, Pretzels, and Churros can be found at multiple kiosks in all of the parks. But I had to include Dole Whip because it is my favorite of all of the snacks. It is a frozen pineapple soft-serve ice cream-like treat but it is gluten-free, dairy-free, and only 80 calories. In some places you can get it with rum, others swirled with vanilla soft-serve, in pineapple juice or even on pineapple upside-down cake. So whenever I am in Walt Disney World the rule is that I must have a dole whip every day.

Schoolbread
Those Norwegians know how to make a treat. The entire bakery in the Norway Pavilion in EPCOT is filled with delicious delicacies but the schoolbread is my favorite. It is fried dough filled with pastry creme and rolled in coconut. Very similar to a donut, but better. We usually grab some to-go as we leave EPCOT for the night and bring them back to the hotel for breakfast in the morning. Just ask the cast member to put them in a plastic container for you.
Beignets
One of the delicious tastes of New Orleans in a much more kid-friendly environment. The beignets at Port Orleans French Quarter is worth a visit to the resort even if you aren’t staying there. Especially if you have a sensitivity to gluten because they have an incredible gluten-free version. If you have a free afternoon plan a nice lunch in Disney Springs, do some shopping, and take the boat over to Port Orleans. Try to plan it on a night that Yeeha Bob is performing at Port Orleans Riverside and walk over for the show after enjoying your sugary treat.
Cinnamon Roll
I am not a huge cinnamon roll fan. My brothers love to make the ones in a Pillsbury can, my husband always gets them from bakeries but I would much rather have something else… except at Gaston’s Tavern. These cinnamon rolls are UNREAL!! They are about the size of your head and incredibly delicious. I would recommend skipping the Lefou’s brew and pairing it with some tea, coffee, or water to avoid a sugar coma.
Croque Glace
Your choice of cold ice cream and delicious topping sandwiched in between warm bread. Can you get any better than that? This is one snack you won’t find on many other best snack lists because not very many people know about it. Once you do you will forgo all other snacks in EPCOT and make a bee-line for the Artisans de Glace in the France Pavilion. You choose your ice cream from over 20 flavors pair it with caramel, chocolate, or strawberry sauce and watch them press it in the brioches. I like to keep it simple, vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. Just make sure to grab a ton of napkins!
One of the great things about this or any other specialty ice cream is that it is a great value if you are using a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. If you break down your plan you can estimate that you are paying about $6 for each snack credit so if you use it to get a snack valued higher than that you are saving money!! Check out the video for more snacks that are a great value.
Corn Dog Nuggets
Ok, ok, ok!! I realize not everyone has a big of a sweet tooth as I do. I am getting to the savory stuff!! Top on my list is corn dog nuggets from Casey’s in the Magic Kingdom. I will admit there is probably a bit of nostalgia factoring into my love of these but I love to get my nuggets from Casey’s Corner on Main Street and people watch before the parade or fireworks. Unfortunately, these are no longer a snack credit on the dining plan but you can pair them with french fries and use a quick service credit.
Egg Rolls
I couldn’t narrow these down to one type in one location. There is a cart in Adventureland that has cheeseburger eggrolls, traditional vegetarian, and a rotating specialty flavor, right now it is Reuben with corned beef and sauerkraut. The Joy of Tea in the China Pavilion has traditional pork and vegetable egg rolls which are way better than what you will get from your local delivery joint. You can also get something similar at the Yak & Yeti Local Food Carts in Animal Kingdom. Basically, if you need a savory snack, find your local egg roll.
Ronto Wrap
Hollywood Studios is the only park that doesn’t have delicious egg rolls when you need them but they have some even better snack options. First is the ronto wrap from Ronto Roasters in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. It is a kielbasa style sausage about the size of a hot dog in naan like bread with some delicious toppings. For breakfast, it is even served with eggs. It is not eligible for a snack credit but worth the out of pocket cost. If you have a snack credit to burn consider the sweet or salty jerky served in the same location.
Totchos
Also in Hollywood Studios are the totchos from Woody’s Lunchbox. They are loaded potato barrels, more commonly known as the trademarked tater tots. I really don’t feel like I need to explain further than loaded tater tots because that alone would have me running to try them. But if you need a little more incentive they are loaded with chili, queso sauce, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and topped with chives. They also have a delicious breakfast bowl version with eggs instead of chili. If those sound too delicious to wait until your next visit check out this copycat recipe from life family joy. https://lifefamilyjoy.com/copycat-woodys-lunchbox-totchos-at-toy-story-land
EPCOT Food Booth Items
Most of the year, EPCOT is hosting a festival and while they have different focuses depending on the season one thing they have in common is food booths sprinkled around the world showcase. In the winter it is the Festival of the Arts celebrating theatre, visual, and culinary arts where every snack is a masterpiece. My favorite is the White Chocolate and Purple Sweet Potato Mousse, Caramel, Coconut, and Maple Meringue. The Flower and Garden Festival in the spring focuses on farm to table, locally grown cuisine they usually have incredible macarons, and the violet lemonade that is so famous it has its own apparel collection. The fall is where the magic really happens during the FOOD and wine festival, where the focus is on international cuisine. This is where you will find more booths than the others and exponentially more options. These are small tasting sizes so you can sample more as you move around the park. There is SO much that if you are traveling during this time plan to spend more than one day in EPCOT so you can try as much as possible. Look at the festival guide before you go so you can flag your must-try items so you don’t get too full before you get to the booth. My perennial favorites are the cheddar cheese soup and wild mushroom filet in Canada, croissant escargot in France, and the maple bourbon cheesecake. THEN in December, you will find even bigger servings with a holiday twist at the Festival of the Holidays, where they celebrate international winter holiday traditions. What is more important at the holidays than the food you share with your family and family? Check out the video below for my favorites from this past year.
Mac & Cheese – Eight Spoon Cafe
Now, this isn’t one that I have tried yet but I decided to include it on this list because it is the one I am most looking forward to. Eight Spoon Cafe is a kiosk on Discovery Island in the Animal Kingdom and they tend to have some incredible snacks. They had an open-faced BLT with pimento cheese a few years back that was incredible! So I know these are going to be good. There are three options: traditional mac & cheese, mac & cheese loaded with pulled pork, or sweet chili shrimp mac & cheese.
Budgeting is such an important part of trip planning, but it can be difficult to find the time to sit down and actually work out the real cost vs a package deal. My ‘Should You Add the Disney Dining Plan’ guide covers everything you need to know to make the right dining choice for you. From what is covered in each dining plan, and who it will best suit, to the average cost of each restaurant and even calculate your savings!
