There is nothing more special than celebrating any occasion at the Most Magical Place on Earth.. Especially birthdays!
Thousands of people flock to Walt Disney World to celebrate their or their child’s birthday at Disney each year.
Disney makes it SO easy to add a little extra pixie dust to your birthday celebration.
We recently visited Walt Disney World where we celebrated both my daughter’s first birthday and my brother’s 22nd.
We visited a week before their actual birthdays (to avoid the Christmas crowds) but each got a day of our trip that we designated as their birthday.
Here are some tips for celebrating your birthday as well as our experience.
You can pick up a FREE birthday button from Guest Services in the theme parks or from your Disney World Resort hotel. These buttons help Cast Members know that you are celebrating.
In most cases it will elicit a “Happy Birthday” greeting from the CMs but sometimes they will go above and beyond to add a little pixie dust to your day.
They also make for a fun souvenir of your special Walt Disney World Birthday trip.
Another great way to alert cast members of your celebration is to make a note on your reservation.
This will oftentimes carry through to all of the dining reservations linked to your account and prompt an extra cupcake or treat.
We made a note on our Chef Mickey’s reservation that we were celebrating Annabelle’s birthday and they brought her a cupcake as well as a birthday card signed by Mickey and his friends.
What is a birthday without a cake? Disney has every single type of cake you can imagine available for pick up or delivery.
The easiest is the standard Mickey celebration cake.
It is a $35 dome cake that is available in chocolate or white chocolate and feeds 4-6 people.
I would recommend that you order in advance by calling (407) WDW-DINE.
You can also request one the same day at the restaurant podium but requests can not always be accommodated due to limited quantities.
Head to the Disney website for more information including the participating restaurants.
You can also have custom cakes delivered to a Disney restaurant or your resort room.
Options vary by resort restaurant but for the most part you can get an 8-inch vanilla, chocolate or marble cake with chocolate or vanilla buttercream or whipped cream and white or dark chocolate mousse, fruit mousse or custard with strawberry filling for $50.
A 10-inch cake would increase the price to $70. Some resorts offer 6” cakes, mini cakes and specialty cakes. Fondant cakes start at an additional $32 on top of the cost of the cake.
This is the cake I ordered for my brother Andrew’s birthday.
I called the custom cake line at (407) 827-2253 and following the prompts to Tiffins, the restaurant we would be celebrating at.
I requested the words ‘Happy Birthday Andrew’ with an Animal Kingdom theme and they did not disappoint.
Of course a Disney trip is a special birthday event in and of itself but if you are a regular visitor to the parks you may want to do something a little different for the birthday person.
A birthday trip is the perfect time to splurge on a dessert party, tour or other ‘Enchanting Extra’.
This is where it gets highly personal. What would the birthday celebrator enjoy the most? A tea party at the Grand Floridian? Tee time at the golf course? A princess makeover followed by a royal meal?
My brother’s two favorite things at Walt Disney World are eating around EPCOT and the Kilimanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom.
I had been on the Savor the Savannah tour and knew he would LOVE eating in the boma above the safari.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t a Savor the Savannah available for such a large group on our dates (there were 14 of us) so we ended up doing the Wild Africa Trek which he LOVED.
I have also helped countless travelers plan special birthday treats for loved ones.
My favorite was for a grandmother’s 80th birthday her daughter planned a tea party at the Grand Floridian followed by a spa treatment.
There is something for every interest and budget at Walt Disney World. To discuss some ideas for your birthday celebration schedule a call with me and I will help you personalize the perfect day.
Another great addition to your trip would be an in room celebration.
You can arrange for treats, balloons and gifts to be delivered to your room. You can call a Dream Maker to put together custom for you at 407-939-4438 or you can place an order online for a standard in room celebration.
You can have something as small as ½ dozen cupcakes delivered or you can have them come in and decorate your whole room!!
For Annabelle’s birthday we had balloons and rice krispie treats delivered to the room. She played with the balloons for hours!!
I love my job. I love helping families plan magical vacations but my favorite part of my job is when I get to help plan a surprise for a family member.
Whether it is a birthday cake, dessert party or day fishing on the lake I love hearing about their reaction. I would be honored to help you plan your birthday celebration.
