Tokyo Itinerary
Visiting Tokyo with the family may sound intimidating, but it’s truly an incredible city with so many kid-friendly things to see and do! This vibrant city is like no other, full of pride in its history paired with a uniquely futuristic tech-forward atmosphere. Today Tokyo offers an unlimited selection of shopping and entertainment as well as historic districts and incredible museums.
Tokyo’s public transportation is world-class, making touring the city a breeze! Known for being a very clean city, you will also find the people to be friendly and polite. Tokyo is also unique because you will find breath-taking landscapes surrounding the city’s sprawling developments, offering a nice relief in nature away from the urban excitement. ndly and witty. And the small towns are incredibly accessible and fun to explore and walk around.
Day One – Arrival
On your way to Cork make a stop midway in Cashel. You have a few options here. You can walk up the hill to the Rock of Cashel, the seat of the Kings of Munster. Explore the plateau populated with medieval buildings crowning the hilltop of Tipperary’s Golden Vale. Or, learn details about the baptism of St. Patrick.
If you need additional stops or are looking for something a little further down the road, Cahir Castle is Ireland’s largest and most well preserved castle and is often overlooked. Athassel Abbey is another rarely explored site, so you’ll likely have it to yourself.
Disney also has a DisneySea destination, a special stop for any Disney lover. There are lots of exciting roller coasters and fun shows, but this stop sets itself apart with its beauty and relaxing atmosphere.There are also so many great photo opportunities here too!
Spend the day taking a Journey to the Center of the Earth, traveling through Mount Prometheus, or take some time indoors on the interactive Toy Story Mania. The park also puts on an adorable Mickey and Friends Harbor Greeting where your little ones can say hello to their favorite Disney characters and watch the outdoor show through the park’s Mediterranean Harbor.
Day Two – Visit Tokyo Disneyland
Kick off the trip with a stop at Tokyo Disneyland! This Disneyland is filled with everything from outdoor to indoor roller coasters and is a hugely popular travel destination. As any Disneyland, there are so many different attractions, shows, and parades that are distinctly unique.
Of course, you will also find the beloved classics like Splash Mountain, Star Tours, Pooh’s Honey Hunt, and Dreaming up! This is a can’t-miss destination and it’s seriously cool to add this Disney destination to the list.
Day Three – Trip to DisneySea

Day Four – Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Shop at Nakamise
For a change of pace, take a trip to the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and wander around the beautiful landscapes. This natural park is known for its unique landscapes of Japanese, French and English gardens. The sprawling area is home to more than 20,000 trees, making you feel at one with nature!
Spend the afternoon shopping at Nakamise Shopping Street, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tokyo. This lively area is often crowded but it is a fun way to see one of Japan’s oldest shopping streets and immerse yourself in the country’s culture. There are many different authentic souvenir shops and plenty of food stalls serving traditional Japanese foods and snacks. Take a bite of Kibi Dango, a sweet mochi-like snack, or Kaminari Okoshi, a rice crispy cracker!
Day Five – Teamlabs Planets Tokyo, Tokyo Skytree, Ueno Park
TeamLab Planets Tokyo is a fun destination for those interested in photography and digital art. This digital art museum is one of the first of its kind, at a ground-breaking 10,000 square meters. Given its size, there are so many different exhibits, each featuring unique, colorful displays.
After a morning indoors, take a trip to the towering Tokyo Skytree. This is the perfect spot to see the entire cityscape. The tower is the tallest observation deck in Japan, and even has a glass bottom floor that captures a stunning 360-degree view of the city. For those afraid of heights, stay on the ground! In the daylight, you can catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji, and at night, views provide a cool view of the vibrant city lights.
Day Six- Day Trip to Mount Fuji
Feeling adventurous? Take a day trip to Mount Fuji to see it for yourself! Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest mountain and also a famous volcano. There are so many beautiful spots here that make the trip truly unforgettable. Daily tours make it easy to navigate and the guiare very knowledgeable on the mountain’s cultural and historical significance.
Not only will you visit the mountain, but you will also find the gorgeous Lake Kawaguchiko, featuring hot spring resorts, and Ohisno Hakkai, a picturesque village with eight stunning ponds.
Day Seven -Ueno Park and Departure
If you have time before you depart, take a trip to Ueno Park. This is a great sightseeing spot, originally established as a public park in 1873. The park has a zoo, pond, garden, and even shrines and museums. If you’re short on time, it’s also a great place to just wander and take in the scenic views, especially in the spring.
