Cozy up with your kids while having the Vermont mountains as your view. They have winter activities for all ages such as ice fishing tours, a winter carnival, sledding, and more. They are rated #1 in the Ski Resort Guide Overall. There are plenty of family winter memories to be had here as they also have a “fun zone” indoor playground for both children and adults.
2. Club Med Québec-Charlevoix- Québec, Canada
Quebec is a beautiful place to visit in the winter as the snowfalls make the city look like the essence of a French winter wonderland. Quebec City looks like it can be the perfect setting for a Christmas Hallmark movie.
In Quebec, there is a ski resort called Club Med that is an amazing place to stay around Christmas time. Located in the mountains, there are guides who can help you ski for all ages 4 and up. There is gourmet dining featuring fondue which is an experience itself. There is also childcare which is suitable if you want to take a date night for a couple of hours while on your trip. This is the perfect place to visit to stay in the snow-filled mountains near the holidays.

Jackson Hole Town is rated #4 by Country Living for the best small towns to visit around Christmas. This town is all about getting in the Christmas spirit by creating Santa sightings all around town for the kids to see, having lit-up Elk statues, having an annual Christmas show, and more!

4. Solvang, California
The city of Solvang in California is the destination if you are looking for an amazing Christmas festival to attend with your family. Every year, the city puts on a month-long Holiday Celebration that lasts from November 27-January 1st. This festival includes holiday parades, an annual tree lighting ceremony, Santa’s Village, and candlelight tours. You wouldn’t expect a California city to look like a winter wonderland, but this one definitely does embody the spirit of Christmas – without the super cold temperatures!
5. Durango, Colorado
Durango, Colorado is the picture-perfect place to travel to during the holiday season. It is a mountain town that you and your kids are sure to love since they light up the town with a bunch of lights during the season.
There is a railroad that operates as the “Polar Express” and takes kids to the “North Pole.” They get to drink hot cocoa on the ride and then meet Santa and his elves at the “North Pole” stop. The hotels in Durango also do a great job decorating for Christmas so even your stay overnight will be magical.
6. Lewiston, Idaho
Lewiston is a town in Idaho that is magical during the holiday season. They have an annual Winter Spirit Festival that has interactive displays, light dances, and an unforgettable 30 foot decorated Christmas tree. They also have a cookies with Santa event that the kids will be sure to love.
